The Treatbox is designed to encourage children to eat a well-balanced healthy lunch, by offering rewards for doing so. There are two compartments to the lunchbox: the top tray that is designed to hold a variety of food with portion control in mind and the second ‘secret’ compartment. Our patent pending lunchbox works on weight, so that the child will only be able to access the ‘secret’ compartment when most of the food in the first top tray has been emptied. (The ‘secret’ compartment is accessible with a weight of 70g or less in the top tray). You can then choose to use our incentive packs to reward your child with non-food items or reward your child using food items. You can also choose to use a combination of the two methods, whatever works best for you and your child.

If you want to pack a food related treat, which you would prefer to be eaten after the healthy food tray, our second compartment is big enough to fit most food items. This compartment will only be accessible when the first food tray is pretty much empty! (The ‘secret’ compartment is accessible with a weight of 70g or less in the top tray).

Our incentive packs allow a child to collect stars which are placed in the second compartment and are only accessible once the first food tray is pretty much empty! (The ‘secret’ compartment is accessible with a weight of 70g or less in the top tray).We provide reward magnets offering a variety of different types of rewards which at present consist of: park time; activity time; tablet time; tv time; story time; cuddles; a new toy; a magazine and a set of stickers. There is also one blank reward card, which can be customised using a white board pen to populate it.

 

We suggest the following guidelines for using our Treatbox:

1. At the beginning of the week get your child to pick a reward. You can give them a choice out of the reward magnets or you can choose one for them if that is preferred.
2. Place the reward magnet in the circle slot on the top of the lunchbox. The slot is part of the illustrative background so this magnet will need to be placed on the lid first. This enables your child full visibility of the reward they are working towards.
3. We recommend involving your child in planning and preparing their lunchbox as research shows that kids are more likely to try foods that they’ve been involved in selecting and making.
4. When packing lunch each day, place a star in the bottom compartment of the box. It’s best to do this before placing food items in the top tray, but if you forget to then simply take the top tray out by lifting it and then you will be able to open the second compartment to place a star and/or food item in it.
5. Tell your child that they can collect a star each day if they consume the food packed in the top food tray and in recognition for doing so, they will be rewarded with the item or the activity on the reward magnet.
6. When they collect a star they can insert them into the star slots on the lid of the box, this provides them with a sense of achievement and also helps them to track their progress.
7. Communicate with them during the week about their progress. They don’t necessarily have to collect all five stars to still be entitled to their treat- it’s entirely up to you to set the rules. For example, if on Monday they didn’t collect their star, you could still incentivise them by stating they can have it for eating their dinner or if they collect the next four days stars they will still get their treat.

Yes, the food tray is leakproof when the lid is clipped closed the silicon seal on the top of the food tray squeezes tightly up against the lid keeping the food in its respective compartments. The secret compartment is however not leakproof and therefore any liquid or sauce like food items should be packed in the food tray and not the secret compartment.

Treatbox is designed to hold wet foods but not liquids. When storing wet foods ensure that the compartment is not over filled and any excess liquid is drained off. Taking these steps will ensure there is no spillage in transit and foods arrive as packed.

Treatbox is made from food safe PP which can be washed safely in the top rack of the dishwasher. It should be washed at a maximum temperature of 80°C.

The silicone tray can be washed in the dishwasher at a maximum temperature of 80°C. To prolong the life of the tray we do recommend hand washing it in warm soapy water and thoroughly drying before storing.

The Treatbox is super light and compact making it easy to transport. Its dimensions in a closed position are 240 (l) x 156 (w) x 73 (h) mm and it weighs 330g or 11.6 oz.

Yes. All materials are food-safe, BPA-Free and Phthalates-free and are FDA compliant.

No. The Treatbox is designed for serving cold or room temperature foods and has metal components so it must NEVER be placed in a microwave. If foods that require reheating are being packed, we recommend using removable silicone cups.

No. Treatbox is not made with thermal materials. If adding food like yoghurt, which should be kept cold, we recommend packing Treatbox in an insulated bag with an ice pack to keep the contents cool.

Treatbox can be purchased on its own (and you can use a food item as the ‘treat’ packed in the hidden compartment) or it can be used with one of our incentive packs. The incentive packs contain five stars that a child collects by eating their healthy food and ultimately they to work towards a non-food related reward. These packs come with rewards magnets, which the child can save up the stars they have collected to work towards. We have designed the lid of the box to be magnetic and to hold five stars (one for every day of the week).

 

Our incentive packs come with a range of illustrative design magnets that can be placed and held on the magnetic lid. This has the added bonus of being interchangeable so when your child grows out of the current trending design, you can easily update it without the need for a whole new lunchbox! This is not only good for the environment by preventing landfill waste, but it also adds an extra layer of fun for your child as they can update their box when back-to-school trends change. We will be releasing new incentive packs to mimic current trends in children’s lunchbox designs.

At present we are also selling:

• Incentive packs: they come with reward magnets; a set of star magnets and an illustrative background. The stars are inserted into the second compartment so that when the healthy tray is consumed, the child can collect a star. There are five stars to collect, one for each day of the week. These are inserted into slots in the illustrative background on the lid of the box which doubles up as a reward chart, to help the child keep track of their progress. The reward magnet is also designed to be held as part of the lid, so that the child has visibility of their reward for the week if they eat their healthy food.
• Dietary and allergy magnets: a good way to warn others of your child’s dietary requirements or any allergies they may have.
• Alphabet magnets: so that your child can customise their box with their name, other words or sayings or even use the top of the box as a spelling board!
• All of the above are magnetic and our lunchbox lid acts as an interactive magnetic board to store these whilst also allowing for more fun to be had!

The Treatbox is designed with providing a healthy balanced lunch in mind. The top tray of the Treatbox is sectioned into five labelled food compartments to help to achieve this balance.

 

The food tray is based on holding servings in the following ratios:

40% Carbohydrates (pasta, rice, grains, potatoes, and bread)

20% Vegetables or salad

10% Fruit

20% Protein (meat, fish, eggs, beans and lentils)

10% Fat (cheese, nuts, seeds)

 

The tray is designed with enough room to hold a sandwich, pasta or rice-type serving.

 

The ‘hidden’ compartment is able to hold another ‘treat’ like food item if you choose to reward your child in this way (see the ‘how does the Treatbox work?’ section for more details). Dimensions of this compartment are 90 (l) x 117 (w) x 22 (h) mm.

Yes. The Treatbox tray and ‘hidden’ compartment can be removed easily for cleaning, packing or for at home use.
